Wildlife Rescue 101
You found an orphan- What next?
The first step is to ensure the orphan is truly an orphan. If reuniting fails or if mom is missing or has been killed then place the orphan in a warm blanket in a carrier or container and contact us. If the baby looks sick and dehydrated or it is injured it needs help right away. Always place the orphan in a warm blanket. Never feed the orphan. Why? Because each species requires specific nutrition and care. Call us immediately for further instructions and to transport the animal to our rehabilitation center.

Triage
We triage all new intakes at our facility to assess for any injuries or illness. We keep emergency medications and supplies on site to stabilize an animal. We collaborate with our veterinarian to ensure our animals are healthy and recieve appropriate care for injuries or illness.
Rehabilitation
Our orphans are quarantined upon arrival to our facility. Once stabilized or quaratine is over they join their same species for care & rehabilitation. All of the animals in our rescue are vaccinated against rabies, distemper, and parvo virus.
What makes a successful rehabilitation & release?
- Fear of humans
- Able to reproduce
- Able to defend itself
- Able to catch prey
